What kind of talent does TimelyText seek? |
As a specialty firm, TimelyText employs:
- technical writers
- editors
- instructional designers
- training developers
- web content writers
- process and procedure writers
- marketing communication specialists, and
- project managers with experience directly related to communication projects.
Special consideration is given to candidates with proficiency in the latest tools (structured Framemaker, XML, Microsoft Office, InDesign, WebWorks, Flash, Captivate, RoboHelp, Authorware, etc.). An advanced degree in an appropriate discipline (technical communication, adult learning, etc.) is a definite plus. |

What experience level does TimelyText look for? |
Because TimelyText is primarily a contract-based flexible resource, members of our talent network typically bring more than 10 years of experience to their placements, many others bring more than 20. However, it is not uncommon for clients to seek less experienced personnel. TimelyText usually seeks professionals with two or more years of experience. |
Do you charge any fees to join your network? |
No, TimelyText does not charge a fee for communication professionals to join our network. |
Can you guarantee me that you will keep me busy for agreed upon periods of time? |
TimelyText can make no guarantees. By definition, we are a flexible resource and we work at our clients’ discretion. While we work hard to carefully scope each project and accurately predict its end, unforeseen circumstances and market conditions mean that there is always the chance that an assignment will be cut short. It’s the nature of business. However, more often than not, our assignments are extended for longer periods than were originally agreed. |
Can you provide me with references of other people in your network? |
We are proud to provide references of people in our network. TimelyText’s reputation and success has been built on the hard work and integrity of the professionals who have chosen to work with us. We welcome the opportunity to spread the word. |
Are you a job placement service? |
TimelyText can be considered a specialized job placement service. However, because we deal exclusively with corporate communication professionals, we maintain a far stronger relationship with the people who work with us than does the typical job placement service. |
What if I am looking for a permanent job assignment? |
Many TimelyText team members come to us looking for a staff position (we never say permanent). While most of the assignments we offer are contract-based, many are long term and a growing number are converted to staff positions after some period of time. On occasion, clients who understand the power in our network, use TimelyText to fill straight staff placements, for a fee. |
What if I am not looking for a permanent assignment, but prefer to work with you to find regular contract work? |
This situation defines a match made in heaven. We encourage temp-to-hire situations because we see them as investments in our future. Over the years, numerous TimelyText employees have later become customers. |
Do you provide networking opportunities among employers and your network? |
Two or three times each year, TimelyText hosts a gathering of “The Unofficial TimelyText Team.” The Unofficial Team includes current employees, past employees, candidates, and current and former customers. Such gatherings are designed as informal social gatherings to network, reconnect with old friends, and exchange ideas about the profession. Mostly, it’s just great fun and networking. |
Do you place people with executive-level experience? |
TimelyText infrequently places people with executive-level experience because clients rarely come to us hoping to recruit executives. It is more common for us to place senior communication professionals. |
Are you primarily a technical writing resource? |
TimelyText clients view us as a broad resource for corporate communication professionals including technical writers and editors, instructional designers, web content developers, project managers, and even public relations professionals. We represent every facet of corporate communication. |
