Adrian West, Vice President at TimelyText

TimelyText has been supplying Instructional Designers to Raleigh/Durham businesses for more than fifteen years, and we have become well known, in local circles, as a “go-to” provider of such resources. But at the core, TimelyText is a stable of communication professionals, and behind all that, is a penchant for networking. After all, isn’t networking all about communication?

Back in 2007, when TimelyText was making our first big forays into the world of Learning & Development, we decided it might be a good idea to learn what we could about the science and magic behind the talent we were (and still are) selling. From our very first monthly ATD meetings (see https://tdrta.org/), we were impressed by the energy and excitement in the room, the number and caliber of the attendees, the business connections we were making, and the real information (learnings) we were gathering.

All these years later, I remain an active member and fixture at ATD. I have been an ATD ambassador and have committed TimelyText to our now long term role as a perennial chapter sponsor. I even co-host two Learning Leader Roundtable groups, which, for the past two years, have been a vehicle for Triangle area learning leaders to gather for monthly meetings to share hints, tips, challenges, and strategies.

Through my ATD membership, I have made many professional friends; placing some in steps upon their career paths, doing business with several on the client side, and mentoring a few to (hopefully) help them to become better at their craft. Along the way, I have certainly had a lot of fun, learned more than a few tricks for how to become better at what I do, and enjoyed the recognition and respect of L&D professionals at the top of their game. Does life in the business world get better than that?

If you are an L&D professional with interests in:

  • next steps on your career path,
  • identifying talent to supplement your team’s work effort, or
  • sharing strategic tips with peer managers in other businesses

Call Adrian West at (919) 926-1717 or drop me an email to awest@timelytext.com. I’d like to help.
